Surfboards
At Dish Surfboards, we refuse to accept that the modern surfboard is a viable option. Many major surfboard companies rely on their consumers misconception that as manufacturers in the outdoor industry, they must be creating products that don’t harm the environment they “cherish”? This could not be further from the truth.
The industry standard surfboard is a cesspool of petroleum-based foams, heinous resins, and ungodly amounts of fiberglass. Worse still, these boards are not built to last, opting for lightweight and non-durable construction in the name of "performance".
Over the past 2 years, we have been developing high-performing, durable surfboards with minimal environmental impact. Through the use of wood, recycled foams, a bio-based epoxy resin, and plant-based cloth alternatives to fiberglass, we are handcrafting surfboards that are built responsibly and designed to last.
Action
This industry needs to be about more than just building Surfboards. We are not going all in on Dish Surfboards with the hope of becoming millionaires. Simply put, Dish Surfboards was created because we give a damn. We are tired of businesses’ lack of commitment to the values they claim they adhere to. Sustainability is not a PR tactic, and it is not achieved overnight. It is a desire to work towards a better future for generations to come. Our vision of sustainability encompasses environmental preservations alongside social action to uplift marginalized communities around the world.
Lots of sexy claims, but how does this actually happen?
1: Traditional surfboards are easy and cheap to manufacture. We will never take the easier route and deviate from our commitment to making sustainable surfboards.
1: We pledge to donate 15% of our annual profit to the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to ocean protection and plastic reduction.
2: We pledge to donate an additional 15% of our annual profit to The Cotopaxi Foundation, a global network of vetted non-profits working to alleviate poverty in marginalized communities.
